I keep seeing these guys getting ripped by those so called bargain winches . Venom ... Gorilla ... and others ... off brand names . Now the warns with plastic gears ! What Junk ! Get a winch from RAMSEY !! They wrote the book on winches and make or made about 90% of tow truck winches ... does that tell you anything ? I've ran them for years ... have never had a Ramsey fry or break . Don't go by the motor horsepower rating on those inferior Chinese models ! You do know Warns are made in China right beside the junk models ! Ramsey has a lifetime warranty ... not 6 months or 2 years like the china/junk models . Remember when you need your winch "YOU NEED A GOOD ONE ! " My ole 3000 ramsey is on it's second ATV and running great ! Yes outlasted 1 already ... does that tell you something ? Pure reliability ... gut ripping pull power and low battery drain . Pull her down about every 2-3 years and relube or check it ... that's it .... she'll never let you down .[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

 

well if i need a tow truck winch, i'll look at the Ramsey.

my cheap venom has never been re-greased, I never clean it off and I've used it about 20 times and a few times plowing, that alone was worth the $100.........and it still works.

 

Oh well .... keep buying that junk then ! Maybe you should type "winch reviews " on the web search and find out for yourself ... LOL ..... And maybe even about the warn control electronics burning up and catching fire ... HAAHAHAA . Plastic gears ...... in Warn winches ! Yea that's a real good idea .... Ramsey makes some mighty fine equipment for sure. I've had PTO and electrics made by them and very few problems at any time. But to claim this one company is the end all for winches is a bit over the top IMO.

For the uses I put the winch on my quad too a $49.00 Harbor Freight special would do just fine. That's not what is on it right now but for pulling fence wires tight and lifting a snow plow it don't take much.
