Default kawasaki 700 kfx or Polairs Scrambler 500?

I have been saving for a real nice ATV. I think I have got it down to either a kawasaki 700 kfx or a Polairs Scrambler 500. I like the full automatic they both have. I know there is a hefty size difference in the motor and the scrambler comes with 2wd and awd. I just want some info from those who might own one or both of them. What is the better all around atv? acceleration? top speed? handling? Ect.. I would be taking them to Apex here in vegas and up to Brian Head in Utah, not looking for full drag racing or anything to crazy. I'm 6'3 and 350lbs so I need a comfy ride as well. They are both pretty close in price, so that wont be an issue.

Thanks guys.

i'd say kfx700 or DS650.....ever rode a DS650???? they are HUGE bikes with lots of power...they arent auto but they are made for the big rider....why do you want auto anyways???? i HATE auto quads....

just buy a canam renegade800.....its 4wd, does probably 80mph....i think auto?....not sure but they look like one hellava ATV.

Rnegade an extra 4,00 or better on an already 5,500 dollar quad.A ds is much more capable and faster than either of those quads stock(Kfx is faster to 200ft or so on a drag). But man i love the kfx in every way.Wheelie machines. The scrambler is under powered in my opinion for its weight. But it has awd wich is great.Either quad is awsome.Ive had the srcambler before and rode the kfx.The kfx is hopefully going to be my next quad.Im 5'11' 220lbs.But i bought my ds first for a reason. What your average riding style.Muddin,trails,dunes.These three quads are all very different.

I don't own a Scrambler 500, but I have rode one. I do own a 04 Kawasaki KFX700.
I bought the quad new in 04 and I haven't had any problems with it. The KFX700 is a much better handling quad. A lot more powerful as well. The Scrambler does better in very muddy conditions and snow. Otherwise the KFX700 beats it in every other situation.

This is from a scrambler fan, the scrambler does have a very, very plush rear adjustable shock, and i would say it handles very good in the rough trails. Its very nice. The scrambler is very outdated and hasn't changed except the plastic in YEARS . They are very good machines but wouldn't really stand a chance against the KFX, if there the same price i would surely go with the KFX just cause the scram is so outdated. i love my scram though wouldn't trade it for anything else!

My Father has had three Scramblers........ two summers ago he traded his last Scrammy in on a '04 leftover KFX700. He would never go back and now makes fun of the fact he used to ride the Scramblers.

Personally I've ridden both and the KFX is the way to go. Unless of course you want the 4x4 option.

I think it comes down to two issues: If you want performance, go with the KFX..... if you want to go places a 2wd will get stuck a lot, and don't mind a slower heavier machine, go with the Scrambler.

Thanks for the info guys, I was leaning torwards the 700 my self. My friend has a scrambler 500 and its a really nice ride, but he paid 11k for t after warranty and taxes. Its nice, but not 11k nice. That atv seems to be all low end power. I want something with a little more mid and top end. plus the kfx feels a little bigger to me when I sit on it, which I need.
