My 2001 Scrambler 500 2x4 dies when you get off the throttle. It acts like it is flooded. Very aggravating and dangerous when going down hills.
Also the other day was riding through some brush when a stick hit the throttle control wire knocking it loose, when it was unplugged the throttle stuck in the position it was when unplugged about half wide open, NOT FUN. when we plugged it back in it worked fine. But got into a barbed wire fence before shutting the thing off, OUCH. Any ideas about the flooding??

actually it could be the exact opposite.
rather than flooding, it could be that your throttle cable has too much slack in it causing a gas shortage. on my sportsman last summer, the throttle cable was too tight and i loosened it. now that it's cold out, i had to take some of the slack out to keep it running at idle. the adjustment should be about 2 inches down the throttle cable from the handlebar throttle housing. pull back the rubber boot and unscrew it just a hair.

definatley sounds like your throttle cable needs to be adjusted. I owned a 1999 500 4x4 and mine did the same thing when I first rode it. The cable will stretch a little, so it will need adjustment.
