Going from Sport Quad to 4x4. What to get?
#1
Hey guys/gals,
I recently sold my 660 Raptor. I wasn't riding it that often and most of the people I ride with have 4x4's (none are what I am wanting to buy). I too am wanting to get a 4x4 now and am having some problems trying to decide what to get. I come from a sport background all the way. From banshees, 250r's and then Raptor's. I have been leaning towards a Grizzly 660 due to the fact that I like the 660 power plant. However I am not all that familiar with 4x's and don't know what they can handle. I would really like to be able to ride it aggressivly and be able to get the front end light if needed for obstacles. I really need some input.
Quads I am considering. I am not looking new, but used so I can pay cash.
Grizzly 660
Scrambler 500 4x4 (but would this do well with the nasty stuff?)
Rincon
Artic cat 650
Any input would be really great.

Blkjaxx, if you want something that will be more like a sport quad, definitely go with a Scrambler 500. They will go anywhere a big ute will go, and they are MUCH more fun than any other ute. Unless you want a complete mudding machine, then go with a Griz 660. Scramblers really are great machines, best of both worlds, and they will keep up with anybody on a 400. It's got plenty of clearance for obstacles and you can pop it over anything. The only downside is that its a little bit heavy for a chain drive. I went with the new wolvey because its got shaft drive. I would consider a wolverine 450 4x4 too, unless your a real big guy... it'l keep up with the bigger utes, it'l go through deep stuff, it's got shaft drive, and it's pretty light compared to big utes. Hope that helps.

I am a die hard sport quad rider, but sometimes I need 4wd and high ground clearance to go where I need to go. I just got a new Honda Rancher 420, and it has to be about as sporty as a utility can get! It is more than equal to either the Wolverine (actually only a 421cc) or the Scrambler.......

The 2 stroke 400 scrambler does go 65mph all the way up to 70 mph STOCK. I'd definitly go with the scrambler 500 it will do about 60-65 mph. The scrambler is outdated though, it u had the money the RENEGADE would be the top choice, just about untouchable. personally i would go choice 1.scrambler 2.grizzly 3. rincon 4. Arctic cat

I would choose the Wolvy 450 and try to find a leftover 06 model. I paid 5250 OTD for one brand new, or find one used reasonably cheap, Or get the Grizzley 660.
