Default woods cdi

hello

i own a 05 ds 650 x and was wondering if the ron woods cdi would be good to buy i have a procircuit exhaust and k &n. does it hurt you motor by overreving since there is no rev limiter? does it hurt the stock bike like the lifters? can you really feel the power? i think if im not wrong its suppost to go over 8000 rpm correct me if im wrong.

thanks guys tim

A woods CDI is very good, it will let you rev waaaay past where your engine can live, that is very bad. Most bikes don't make good power past 8500,I would think a vortex would be a better choice although its a little more money. A missed shift and you rev way pat 10,000 and hit a valve it will cost a lot more than the 100 dollar price difference and the vortex is a direct plug in the woods you hav to change your plug.

Yea you have to watch it but the ignition curve is awesome. Get a set of heavy valve springs and under buckets and you should be fine

If u've got the '05 it has a tach on it im sure, so if u get the woods just watch ur tach, u can tell by the sound of ur pipe when it gets up to 6-7000 rpms, let alone 8-9000!!!

I ran a woods box for 3 years on my bike before installing a tach. The motor was stock except for a Big Gun pipe and lectron 46 carb, never had any problems. I always did pay attention to how my motor sounded and was carful with the rpm's.

The box did make a hugh differance though. The different curve was very noticeable.

The Woods box was the only one avaiable when I purchased mine.

I have a tach now and still shift by sound.

I have the woods box, makes a big difference. I have a tach, but honestly never look at when I need to, and that is when I am running it the hardest.
Good curve, great for wheelies when you are not banging off the rev limiter.
