You want to use a motorcycle oil or 4 stroke motor oil. It does not matter if its synthetic just as long as its for 4 strokes ot motorcycles. These oils are for wet clutch applications. Regular car oil has friction modifiers that will eventually eat the clutch up. ANy auto parts has 4 stroke oil. 10w30/40 will be fine or even rotella t 15w40 diesel oil.

Although the quad is an automatic,it has clutch discs.Go to your local auto parts store and buy 4 stroke atv or 4 stroke motorcycle oil.As stated before it will ad life to your discs.Regular car oil will work fine for the engine, but not good for the discs..

You can use a synthetic diesel oil. Just make sure it does not have "Energy Conserving" written on the API starburst on the back of the bottle. I use an Esso XD-3 OW40 full synthetic and it works great.
Most car oils once they reach a 40 weight are not Energy Conserving also.
Motorcycle oils are usually rebadged and then they increase the price. There is no need to pay extra for that.
