well $&%#! rod broken off in chain adjuster (bearing carrier)!

Alright well apparently the steel rod bomb includes with all the ds' to adjust the chain isnt that strong (or maybe this one was just old enough it got brittle) but I was adjusting the chain and the rod snapped off inside the bearing carrier housing... it is pretty far in there and there is not enough area left in there to use another rod to adjust it (so right now i cannot adjust the chain which is a slight burden seeing as how its a touch loose right now!).
Does anyone know the best way to get it out? I tried a few magnents but that didnt work..am i going to have to drill it out? What is behind it- what if i drill too deep?

Ever wonder what those grab bars were for? Well, ya reach out and grab the one in the front and the one in the rear, lift that puppy over your head and shake it like there's no tomorrow. That little broken piece of rod should slide right out...
Do you have any dental picks or maybe jewelers screwdrivers? There ought to be just enough room to get something small and sharp in there to work that out. I always use a Craftsman screwdriver. Lifetime guarantee so if this were ever to happen atleast I'd get a replacemement for the broken one.

I wouldn't try drilling it out (steel in aluminum)
try putting some heat in that area of the carrier, try and pick the piece of steel out.

you should have 3 or more holes to choose from on the carrier so you shouldn't be out of luck, I have broke various allen wrenches and rods off multiple times and they usually just come out with a magnet.
good luck

I know stock ones do but this one only has one hole (ill look again but I know i checked before cuz i know my 03 baja had more holes) im pretty sure the carrier on this one is ASR? or whoever makes the aftermarket one.
That is one thing I dont like about buying used modded machines, never know what little gremlins are going to pop out later! This is nothing compared to the C-clip that popped off mid-air jump at the indoor track the 2nd time out riding it (luckily i was ok and the elkas and a-arms were not harmed!)

Leave it in there. I won't hurt anything. It may bounce around a little but it isn't where there are moving parts or anything.
Sweat the big stuff.

Maybe it was a subtle hint from the quad god that you need to check your bearing carrier...if you do that you'll be able to get at the main culprit that started this thread....

well what i would do is use an 1/8 welding rod and turn the amperage down between 80 and 95 and stick the electrode againt your broken adjuster rod and since the amperage is low and your not trying to maintain an arc the rod will stick you can uvclamp itfrom the electrode holder and with a little TLC pull the electrode out with the broken piecs fused to it.
