Default RE Dirtwheels v Raptor v Renegade

I already posted this in the yamaha forum by mistake, so I wanted to put it where it belongs.

Has anyone one else read that yet. They claim the Rengade is really 800lbs!!! According to the article, the Renegade isn't 597lbs, 600lbs, or even 700lbs. According to the Dirtwheels article the 700 Raptor is 400lbs, the 700 Grizzly is another 200lbs and the Renegade is 200 lbs heavier than the Grizzly. That's 200lbs more than the claimed dry weight. Not to mention they basically said the single spar frame wasn't a good thing either. In summary, they didn't give it too much credit. Sorry I was a little aggravated about what I read, almost every other comparison I've read, and there have been quite a few recently, recognizes how versatile it is. Maybe what they were suggesting is that it's not as comfortable as a Grizzly, and although it can do anything the Grizzly can , and it also isn't as nimble and lightweight as the 700 Raptor althought it's easily just as powerful, and there's no need to worry about shifting. In my book that make the Renegade more versatile than either, which is what it's meant for. Anyone else bothered by that article?

It's hard to truely evaluate something when all you can see of it is the azz end through a cloud of dust.

DW is all about who's spending the advertising dollars. Switched to ATV Sport years ago.

My only subscribtion is ATV Sport also. They are the Autoweek of ATV mags.

Though I do buy at times Dirtwheels for my son to look at all the ads!!!!! I'm not joking. He loves quads & tires. Weird I know.

Made me really angry they seem to really put down can-am any chance they get.Where atv sport actually gives it a chance. They did an awsome test this month on the 500 outlander.I might actually think of buying now!I would like to find a used 650 outlander in a year or so.But i agree i dont like how dirtwheels does there test. Not because it was a can-am but because there really non sense comparrisons sometimes.

I loved how they only mentioned rolling over the Renegade and having levers bent etc. like that wouldn't happen on any other machine. Not to mention how even though the Renegade can do everything a Griz can, it also blows it away. Nor did they mention how even though the Raptor is lighter, it kept getting hung up and/or stuck, and how constant shifting in the trails can become bothersome too, where as the Renegade doesn't and would still blow away a Raptor in a short drag, and then pass it when the Raptor would get stuck. They only focused on the very best attributes of the two Yamaha's. Dont get me wrong, I love Yamahas, as a matter of fact, I'm getting a Wolverine for the G/F next week, but they failed to give the Renegade the praise it deserves when it comes to going anywhere without shifting, and still providing the punch of a full manual sport machine like a Raptor. About the only honest quote in the whole article was mentioning the MSRP of the Renegade being more costly than the other two.

That article definately surprised me (well not really) but so did the one on the RZR. I thought the rider opinions at the end seemed bias or rewritten also. I like DW but seldom do I agree with there reviews.

Renegade will not outrun a 700r or a yfz 450 stock.

Did you know a Renegade has 62hp compared to the 46 a Raptor has, and it doesn't get hung up or stuck whereas I cant say that about a Raptor. About the only good thing about the raptor by comparison is that it's a lot lighter, and cheaper.
