i have a 2007 trx450r and just got a hmf slip on exhaust for it and now at full rev it sputters i changed out the jets with the ones provided with the exhaust itself and it still does it any ideas on what the problem could be

 

could be they gave u the wrong jets for your altitude.... try jetting it again... did you get an airfilter?? try adjusting your airmixture screw.. or you could mess with the clip in your needle.. raise it up a notch and not rejet..

 

yeah got the k and n filter on it too im at about 2800 ft. so what jets should i use so far as the main and pilot

 

well first raise the clip up on the needle and see how that works out 4 you.... also what size jets do you have in there now?

 

If you look at the bottom of the carb you will find an adjuster screw which you can use to tune and that should do the trick, just try turning it out about 2-3 turns...Welcome to the forums and let me know how you make out.

 

well so far as my jets i have a 165 main that they gave me and then a 48 pilot also was given with the exhaust and so far as the adjuster screw i cant seem to find it the only screws i see is the one to open up into the jet compartment and the one that lets you drain the gas out of it that is it??

 

ok i adjusted the fuel mixture screw and still does the same thing??

 

try moving the needle clip up one notch

 

Just out of curiosity is you intake tube and filter connected tightly...The adjuster screw is recessed a little bit and I would try messing with the clip positions and see if you get any response like 1988 mentioned...Also what color is your plug reading after you run the bike for a little bit.

 

hey my brother put on the same pipe on a 400ex and he said he had to adjust his valves after he was done is there any truth to this???
