Default 1996 noisy bayou clutch or engine??

I just bought a 1996 220 Bayou and notice that the engine is a bit noisy at idle and when I shut it down. The engine runs very strong and doesn't smoke a bit, so I'm a little confused on what the problem could be. The noise sounds a little bit like the centrifical clutch that was on my go-kart that I had as a kid (it sort of "dings" and "clanks"). How can I figure out what the problem is. Please let me know. Is it ok to ride, or will it throw a rod and ruin the bottom end?

Maybe your valves need adjusting?

My 2001 has done that from the day I bought it. It sounds like it is ready to throw a rod threw the block when you give it gas. The dealer said there was nothing wrong with it. I have never had a problem with it although its not running as smooth as it use to. It sounds like it wants to cut out at idle. At first I thought it was the carb but now I wounder if it might be electrical. Good luck.
