Trailblazer Leaking Carb?
#1
I've been having trouble with my TB. I have another thread going, but I am hoping to get more clarification on this problem with a less generall question. My carb seems to be spitting raw gas into the air filter box. The TB is not currently running, but when I try to start it the gas leaks into the airbox and the engine refuses to start. I don;t think this is supposed to happen. Anybody have this problem before or know of a possible solution. Maybe time for a carb cleaning and/or rebuild? Oh yeah, it's broken down way out in the woods, so the fewer walking trips out there the better lol. Thanks.

man cdr, i would go crazy if i was you w/ as much as thats broke down. make sure the float isnt sticking open and flooding it out and make sure the crank vent isnt messed up causing too much back pressure. best i can do for ya.

I think I would need every part of a parts bike lol. The float isn't stuck open on the carb, but it doesn't close flush. Is it supposed to? I have no idea about carbs, at all. Especially when they are out in the woods.

I'm with Stendori on this, check the float.
From the sounds of it, you're gonna know this thing inside and out soon.

I must be talking about the slide then. I went back out today and there is still gas shooting from where the slide is into the air box when I try to start. I also notcied gas leaking down the bottom too. When I try to start it, every 4th or 5th time it turn over it sputters a little, but doesn't start. How do I remove the carb? I tried, but didn't have any success. I'm going to take it to a mechanic friend of mine and have him go over it and clean it really well.

I was gonna do a rebuild on the wifes this past week, but just got too busy. But just looking at it, I would guess the plastic around it (nose/fender and exhuast cover) are gonna have to come off. Be a good time to make sure the jetting was correct while you're at it.

I'm confused!!! I took the seat and air box off to get at the carb. Seems like plenty of room to work on it. I went to remove the carb and can't figure out how to undo where the throttle and the chocke comes in. I can get the fuel hose off and should be able to get where it goes into the engine.

the choke cable unscrews w/ a 12 mm wrench. it pulls out cable and plunger in one shot as does the cap on the top of the carb which is connected to the slide. just unscrew the cap counter clockwise and lift out the whole assembley. as fuel as the fuel line(with the gas turned off btw) just rmove the clamp or w/ pliers squeeze it and slide it up and then carefully w/ pliers or something twist the hose a little bit back and forth and slide the hose up.
