I have just purchased a new 2006 Honda Rancher 400AT and I can only get it to top out at 41MPH ! Is this the top speed for this quad or is something wrong.

Well my 2004 Rancher 350 Will hit 53 on the speedo and 50 on a GPS, so i think something is a little off with your 400.

 

I am kinda surprized that people are still buying those now that the 420 has come out.
I think mine (wife's) has been at least 50.

 

My 2004 Rancher only gets to about 45 at top speed with the 26 in Mud Lites on it. I just got back from a trip to Busco Beach in Goldsboro, NC where it got vapor locked due to the back tube on the air box separating from the airbox. Drained it and changed the oil several times and boy it is tough. Went back on the trails and went where all the big bore utes went and alot of time I had easier time due to being lighter weight. Had no low end trouble as some on here have suggested.

 

Wow that's depressing. I have a 250 recon for my kid and my 200 lb brother had it to 47 mph on flat ground, no wind the other day. I ride a renegade, sorry I would be a honda boy but I can't stand to be the last across the field. I love honda but man they don't make a 4x4 with any speed, the day Japan wakes up, I'll be there.

 

Out here in the mountains of Montana we really don't ride that fast on the mountain roads, so 60 on my Rubicon is plenty.
