How fast is the Raptor 700R?
#1
There is a guy in town that has a Raptor 700R He claims it does 102 MPH on his GPS and also clocked at 100MPH on the highway.
I guess he has a race pipe and a chip installed. What do you guys think?

There is actually a limiter that kicks in when it is in 5th gear. . . if he doesn't have it unplugged or re-gear'd it won't happen. . .
But, all that aside. . . the 700 is a solid bike. I believe it will take a Stage 3 DS to beat it. I honestly don't know if a high compression, piston and cam, as well as pipe, filter and carb could beat a Raptor with a Pipe, air filter and PCIII. The Raptor is a very strong bike and with the weight savings up a hill in the dunes it is a runner.

I just raced a 700R who had his SA removed, K&N and remapped with my somewhat Stage 1 DS on the flat drags at Silver Lake. I was able to easily pull him by 3-5 bike lengths every time...plus I weigh about 50 lbs move than this guy.
But I think stock vs stock, the 700R would probably win easily.

I have an 07 raptor with a pro design intake kit, a trinity fuel injection controller and a dual pipe and mines real fast. I hat to say it but out of maybe 10 or so ds's I have raced only one outran me and it had a drag pipe on it so it must have been a pretty built. the others I could outrun by 5 bikes or more.

Everybody likes to compare brands and they almost always talk about the difference in motor mods. I can make twice as much difference on most race hills with setup compared to mild motor mods. Proper swingarm length, gearing, paddles, tire & wheel size and suspension setup.
Since I have dialed in the setup on my 700R, it runs the Oregon race hills at about the same performance as my DS730 did.........the motor is bone stock with a stock pipe and the airbox lid is on.
Setup for our Oregon sand, race hill length and incline and my 190 lbs:
+4 swingarm
72" rollout 9 paddle ultralights on 8" rims
13 tooth Counter Sprocket (-1)
ModQuad aluminum play axle 32"
1" additional preload w/ slightly stiffer valving in the rear
Just rev it up, dump the clutch and haul azz!
