Default RZR

I was very fortunate to have had the oppurtunity to ride the new Polarirs RZR.
For anyone that is on the fence deciding between the Raptor, Prowler, or the RZR this may help.

I have owned a Kuboat RTV, Rhino, and presently a Ranger XP. I love my Ranger XP but have missed the agility and sports car feel of my Rhino since I sold it.

The new RZR is by far the best S X S presently available. It outperformed my old Rhino in every aspect. It absorbed the bumps and whoops comparable to a well set up quad. Polaris done a great job of engineering a very low center of gravity. I have spent a lot of hours in a S X S so I knew this low center of gravity was very real as I traversed some off-camber trails that would normally make my butt pucker in my XP or Rhino. The suspension is phenominal compared to all other SXS's I have experianced. As the suuspension compresses the wheel travels rearward affording a more foregiving ride. The power pulls hard all the way through and I believe I read 58MPH. I watched a drag between a Prowler, Rhino, and RZR. The Prowler and Rhino were very close but the RZR was 5-6 lengths ahead.

Just a few other attributes that need mentioning are, infinant adjustment tilt steering, shift on the fly 4WD, solid mount between trans and engine (no more belt alignment issues), driveline mounted traversed behind cockpit which helped with stability and made it very quit for a performave machine.

Great job Polaris !

Great review one al! If I was in the market for a sport oriented side by side I'd probably go with the RZR. I have the X2 which works well for me, but would consider the RZR if I didn't. Thanks for the info. The other thing I like is that it would fit on most of the trails I've ridden in VT and NH. The 50" would be a tight squeeze in spots but would probably make it through most of the gates I've seen.

My money (if I was a betting man) would definetly be on Yamaha. They have the most to lose.

Spydey4, I've read a few reviews on the RZR and they all say it is tight for people of our dimensions. I'm 6'3" and 340. I don't do 2-up too often on my X2 but feel a little cramped with a passenger. I guess it would be cramped back to back or side by side for people of our size. Pick which one would irritate you least.

One of our staff is 6' 4", similar weight and the other 6' 240lbs. They sat in it together and even though they did'nt actually rub shoulders sitting still I think they would have in the rough stuff. However, the biggest one said he was comfortable in the drivers seat. The adjustable tilt wheel made a huge differance.

I agree, I am betting this will create competition that will take these units to a level that will have a lot of folks converting from other types of off-roaders.

Hey,

Did you notice if the RZR was fairly quiet at low speeds? I want to purchase one for the trails to go fast, but also use it at my campsite to cruise around slow. The campground owner said it was ok when I explained that I wanted to get a UTV, but I am worried that they would shut me down if it the RZR is too loud.

Please let me know what you think when you get a chance.

thanks!
