+ 12 swingarm on 250R
#1
I just got my + 12 swingarm I was wondering about the shock will the stock shock work? Will it sit alot taller in the back with the stock shock? I was pondering a marvin shaw rear? They need the dimensions to build me one I dont know if I should go with the stock dimensions of 16inches (I think) or shorter any help would be awesome. Thanks
I am running this for dirt drags only. A few people told me to run a strut???

I'm no expert on this but I think running a strut would affect your traction. When you do a race start usually the back of the bike goes down when you take off, a strut would not allow this to happen.

I don't know about those brands, but if you do ANY jumping, you will destroy your fenders. I know from experience. We have an '85 250R with a +6 Laeger's. The stock shock can not handle the added forces.
What we did was change the spring to an Eibach with a stiffer rate. If you're going +12, say goodbye to anything but drags.
Good luck, and keep us informed.

Another possibility for the rear shock is to experiment with cutting a few coils and adding spacers. This will stiffen rear spring. The more coils you remove the stiffer the effective spring will be. If not happy then just buy new spring. For my Banshee with +4 inch swing arm I had Precision Concepts in San Diego re-spring and re-valve the stock rear shock.
