A Couple Questions about Jetmotos
#1
Hello
First off I am in the need of an ATV this summer so we won't be left behind when all my friends go out riding. I am a college student so money is a BIG factor. I have looked at a couple used suzuki's and yamaha's but they looked way too used and was still pushing my buget. I was looking at a 250 sport for myself and a 150 sport for my girlfriend. She has been riding a suzuki king quad and only being 105 lbs. she was getting thrown around on it. I think these might fit her better weight-wise. I have been riding my friends warrior.
That leads me into a few questions:
1. What is the fuel tank size on the 250 and 150. I think I saw somewhere that it was 1 gal. which seems kinda small.
2. The weights of the 150 are different on Jetmoto site and Raceways site.
Jetmoto says 314
Raceway says 250
3. I also read somewhere that Raceway might start shipping the 250's with the 15 tooth sprocket instead of the 17. Is this true?
4. Also what is the status on the "hop-up" kits?
I had a couple more but I have so much on my mind with finals coming up I seemed to have forgot them. I will post them here when I think of them.
Thanks

I just thought of one!
Having never seen a chinese built ATV we are going to a dealer on Thursday that sells Roketa's and Kazuma's. Are there any of those models that are comparable to the Jetmoto 250 and 150? I know that the quality might not be the same but I want to see one first hand.

As far as I know, the 07 model Jetmoto 250 is way ahead of the other brands.
I wouldn't consider the 150.
Changing a sprocket isn't a big deal. I think it's just 3 bolts. Find a friend with a socket set. Raceway will give you jets and sprockets for no extra charge (they are insanely inexpensive.)
Hop ups are very little. I'm going to be working with some people on things, but I need to take the motor appart to do so, which I'm not going to do for a long time. I *might* *possibly* get a C&C guy I met to do a lighter rod with high quality steel. I will also do a little porting and a ton of polishing on the intake manifold.
I don't know if I would advise it, but there are a ton of nitrous kits available that would work. I think the cheapest ones we could use would be one that comes with a fuel pump. Look to spend $800 to get it up and running if you install yourself.
Fuel economy on these things is insane. 1-2 gallons is normal for 250s and runtimes would be nuts. Don't think that your going to have a gas can strapped to your back.

By hop-up I meant those kits that MyWifesQuad was testing from Jetmoto. That thread was from January though.
Is it me or do the front brakes look REALLY small?
Thanks!

No the brakes discs are small, but seem to work great. I have had no issues with them not stopping us!
Not sure what size of tank I am guessing they hold almost 2 gal. We have rode for 5 hours strait and still have about the bottom quarter of the tank left and it's the widest part of the tank. When we refill the tanks after a day of riding all 4 quads it takes about $5-7 to refill all of them and thats at $2.50 plus a gallon (now $2.93 Ouch)! I always take extra gas and have not needed to use it yet!
The weight of the 150 is 314lbs!
Yes I think they are shipping the "new" 250's with the 15t but I think there may be some 17 still out there, I am now running a 14 tooth which is better for climbing but does take away some speed from the 15t.

In my opinion from looking at roketas, they probly are decent quads, but not the same quality as a jetmoto. We have rode our JM 250 very hard and I am glad we went with it over other chinese brands. Buying from Raceway is worth it. They are much better with customer service than any name brand dealer i have ever dealt with. I think the tank holds at least 2 gallons and i have to fill up my yamaha at least twice as often and it has a 2.5 gallon tank. As for hop-ups, Jetmoto hears us all and will come out with something, they have for the smaller atvs. But until they do there are plenty of us out here working on it ourselves. The brakes on the JM 250 are much better than on my blaster, but thats not a really fair comparsion because all blasters brakes suck.

Thanks for all the replies!
Just for the record I was looking at the 250 for myself and the 150 for my girlfriend. She has only been riding once or twice and I want to start her with a CVT or semi-auto, hence the 150 instead of the 200.
Has anyone had any problems with the 250 only being a 4 speed instead of a 5 or 6?
Thanks again, I most definity will be ordering from Raceway sometime in the near future!

The 250 with the 15t sprocket is fairly high geared so no it is not really lacking a 5th gear, now going the 14t yes a 5th gear would be nice! I don't see any reason other then the green sticker for California to go a the 200cc. The 250 would be better all around! The 150 is a great quad and will fit a wide age and range of riders. The 150 will even pull a "little" wheely off the line just by power alone with me on it!

Only having 4 gear is not a problem with the jetmoto 250, on the top end it has about the top speed as my blaster which has 6 forward gears, under most riding conditions you will never see top speed anyway. i have rode several banshees and they will go around 90 but i never took them out of third. i have the 15 tooth sprocket on my jm and think it is still probly to high geared for our type of riding, which is trails and sandhills. so far though i have been able to climb anyhill that my blaster can on my jm. by the way, my wife loves the jm250, she prefers riding it over my smaller blaster because it feels more stable. i have wheel spacers on both and the jm is still wider and has a lower center of gravity.
