Default JetMoto front suspension/steering

I was riding today and noticed the left front wheel was wobbling. It was the inner tierod end that had come loose. While I had the front end jacked up I checked all the balljoints, and tierod ends and found all of them were worn, some pretty bad.

Anyone else noticing their steering/suspension parts wearing out this quick? The quad has 20, maybe 25 hours on it. I've greased everything everytime we've washed it down, which has been very often since we've had alot of rain here.

Yes the joints and ends and Rubber boots are definitely in need of an upgrade, it's posts like these that I think will help make that happen. I had reported before "in my list" the inner tie rod end mount coming lose. If this is what problem you are having you need to add a second washer to that to lower the castle nut down to match up with the cotter pin better so it will not come lose like they do.

Same problem here.Even after adding a washer it still wont pull up tight.Poor design. The threads are really bad.If you tighten it will strip.Bad fit up.John did send me new ball jonts.didnt put them on yet. This front end is very cheap.Jetmoto had to of known this for 07.Just look at it.The zirks are not tight. No grease at all.Rubber boots dont match anything to keep them on.If you put grease in it will pop out under the boot.It cant cost much to make these important parts of a higher grade of material and workmanship.

I wonder if these are China standard quality? These parts all add to the sloppiness of the front end I had talked about!

Im not sure there is much QC in the chinese market.I will say that every time i go to pep boys to pick something up i always look at those baja atvs and from the looks they look very well built.Grease fittings in the right spot, good strong feel.I no they get a bad wrap but they look good.

I would really appreciate some pictures of what you are talking about. Mine are coming soon and I would like to know if there is anything else I need to have standing by. I have a grease gun and some marine grease. What size of washer are you guys using? I'm still excited to get my jetmoto next week, and I'm sure john will help if I have any problems (which is why I ordered from him.) I do want to be extra prepared though. In case I have any problems. My dad will be pissy if he has to get his hands too dirty to get this bugger running well. HAHA!

Thanks,
-JNY

I believe you have to wait and see how your atv front end feels and lines up.When you get it jack the front end up so the wheels are floating and the lift up and see if the play on the ball joints is present. If not dont worry untill they loosen up.Make sure your front end is aligned.,and tight.Make sure the zurks are tight before you put grease in.You really cant tell what your quad will need until you assemble it.Good luck.Make sure after you recieve your quad you call raceway and ask for them to send you the mso for your machine. It wont come with the atv.

What is an mso?
*EDIT* Manufacture Statement of Origin is used in registration of vehicles and proof of ownership in case it's stolen or something.

Good advice. I'll definately check it out. So the entire bike will need to be greased right? every zirk? Good to know! =)

I've ran into the problem about the holes not lining up with the slots in the cotter pins before on the rear hubs. That isn't the problem with the balljoints or tierod ends. The joints themselves are worn out and loose. I knew when I got the quad one ball joint was sloppy, but nowhere near as sloppy as they are now.

I know John at Raceway will take care of the problem. I just feel somewhat "guilty" calling him about warranty issues so much. Not that I have had any major problems, just little stuff like the gas tank cap gasket going bad, and one rear brake pad's friction material simply came off. Biggest problem I've had so far is the gas tank leaked, but John sent me a new one. A couple of other issues, but again nothing major.

00XJ, I know what you mean, I have had this little stuff x4! For the price I still believe they are a decent little quad. I am not to worried about the tie rod ends being a bit sloppy I almost half expected it not to be totally tight but if one breaks then I will not be to happy. we will see how it goes before the warranty is up!
