My girlfriend has a honda trx300 2x4 and it says on the tranny case it has 4-3-2-1-N-L1-R. This means it has reverse right? I cannt for the life of me figure out how to get the quad to go in reverse!!!! how is it done? anyone that has any info please help.... thanks

The shift pattern is R-N-1-2-3-4-5. Not sure where the L1 came from?
Anyway, get into neutral. There is a red button with an R on it above the left hand brake. Hold the button down with your index finger, then pull the brake with your other fingers. While doing this, shift down and into reverse. The mechanism is intended to keep you from shifting into reverse under power and taking off backward. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature.
