Default Raptor 660, how good are they?

I know I have a post under the ATV Racing Topic about this but this is really bugging me. Are the Raptor 660's really that fast. A lot of people brag about how fast they are and they'll beet anything out there.(I know better than that) Personally I think the 450's are way faster then the 660's.Don't get me wrong now, I don't have anything against Yamaha. Any Info would be apprieciated.

The 450's are faster but the raptor is the ideal big man's racing style quad. My friend has a 450r and when we race across the field where we ride I usually get the hole shot by about a quad length but by mid second he is right back up on me and by the end of third he usually has me by a few feet. By the end of 4th where we usually let off he has me by 1 1/2 quads. I have a 01 660 with a uni filter and a hmf pipe. And his 450r is stock. I am 6' tall and over 300lbs and feel good on my raptor. But when I ride his 450r it feels like I am sitting on my wifes 250ex sort of. until I smash the throttle that is.lol

Raptor 660's are a good time. People say they are tipsy but thats not hard to fix. Raptors are deceivingly fast. Lets say that. 450's are a blast and will pull the raptor out of the hole no problem. One reason is that when riding the raptor is that it's hard to keep all four wheels on the ground as on the 450's they are lower and flatter and shoot straight. The 450's will also give you the illusion that you are accelerating faster because of where the power comes on the gears are shorter and it feels like you are blazing through them (which you are), and on the raptor, its geared taller and uses its torque to pull the taller gear. From a dig, with equal riders the raptor is about two bike lengths behind but from a roll the acceleration is close and the raptor is a little faster when the speeds get higher (torque plays a bike role against wind resistance). Buy what you want, if you are serious and set up whatever you have right, you cant go wrong. It's all in fun anyway.

The raptor is like the cadillac of the quad world. Big, has some power, and the fat guys like to ride on em. The banshee is like the viper with the flat out power and the 450's are like a corvette with the handling and low COG.
