On stock size tires, they will hit 62-65mph. The rev limiter kicks in and won't let it go no faster. The 03-05s with a Dynatec CDI will run around 73mph. Before hitting the rev limit.

Okay, thanks for the replies. I read a review on the Rincon (not by a pro, but one of the reviews on powersportsnetwork.com) and the person said that the Rincon won't even spin tires in really thick mud due to the three-speed transmission. Is this true? Does it have trouble spinning the tires in any situations, or is it strong all the way through?

Oh, and you guys are saying the older Rincons are faster than the new ones, correct?

thanks

The new Rincon 680 tops out around 65-68mph while the old Rincon 650 tops out around 63-65mph. I had my aunts 2005 rincon 650 at 63mph topped. As far as spinning the tires, there shouldn't be a problem with 25" to 26" tires. However, if you put 27" tires or larger, you would probably have to get a clutch kit. Rode with a guy who has the new 680 and he put 29.5" outlaws on it. We went to spring creek a few months ago and it did fine until he hit some thick mud and the tires wouldn't spin. He now has a clutch kit and it does fine.

700vtwin,

First off the Rincon does NOT have a clutch. t has an automotive style transmission with a torque converter. Nothing you can do to the tranny to make it work better so not sure how you came to that conclusion?

As for the rinny not being able to spin the tires in thick mud is crap. It has plenty of power to spin in 1st gear and even in second. Anything bigger than 26" tires will start to strain it but it will still turn them. I have been in peanut butter mud with my 26" MudLite xl's and it did not skip a beat. Still through mud clumps 30ft in the air. As for the speed what BIGREDGMC said about going 71mph stock is crap also. The rincon is limited to 65mph. Thats it! It will only go faster if you get an aftermarket cdi or efi controller that will raise the rpm limit. Stock they are limited to 7000rpm @ 65mph. The cdi or efi controller will raise it to 8000rpm and about 70mph. Mine with 26" tires, hmf exhaust, uni filter and Dynatek cdi will hit 67mph. Stock 0-60 is ok and it takes a long stretch to hit 65 but with cdi 0-60 is very quick and still pulls good to 67. Although I would not want to run it past 65 very often because it screams for a 4th gear but in almost all situations the 3 speed tranny is great. The 680 does have more power and yes you can tell. It feels like a 650 with lots of mods. I like the carbed rinny because they are way easier to mod. The 680 efi is limited for now.

Sorry, I was just quoting the guy that has the new 680 rincon. I have seen in the Dirt Wheels magazine where some sort of tranny kit is available. I will find it and show you. However, I stand correct if this is not true.

Last I knew (like 2manytoys said) the tranny is like a car tranny - maybe he put a shift kit in or something to that affect or if he was able to modify the computer he could change his shift points a little. Maybe he changed out his ring and pinion in his differentials. But what do I know I am just a Dummy... lol...

I personally watched a completely stock 200cc Blaster pass a 650 Rincon. No way a 650 Rincon will do much over 50mph. It seems all of the large cc utility atv's are way off in speedo calibration. Can't comment on the 680's real world speed though.
