1996 Yamaha Blaster Question
#1
Hello fellow Yamaha peoples...
I just purchased a 96 Yamaha Blaster it runs good, No problems so far...
Since this is my first ATV and I do business in Costa Rica, So it will always stay here im not taking it back with me to NY, I would like to know what things might you suggest I change or fix I don't have any instruction manuals so if you guys can tell me what cycles I need to change the oils in the bike and how much 2 stroke oil must I put in the gas tank when I fill up, And minor things like that I would greatly appreciate it. I couldent find any forum that covers this type of stuff but if Im reposting please send link to the thread.
It was owned by some tico that couldent afford to maintain it I think he did the basics but i want to make the bike run without problems for a long time so I wanna change all the oils and stuff.
Thanks
Skype 321-441-3954 if you can call to talk to me that would be great 2

The oil I do about twice a year. Just keep an eye on the sight glass to check the oil level.
The rear brakes are not the best in the world and they require a good deal of adjustment. For the adjustment you take the three bolts out of the caliper cover and turn the white plastic adjuster one or two clicks. If you go to many clicks you will have to start over.
The front brakes require adjustment and they should always be equal amounts of adjustment on each side.
Make sure you keep the suspension greased up good. There are grease fittings on the ball joints, and a few other spots.
Adjust your chain using the rear slack adjusters, again adjust the same amount on each side. there should be 1/2" of slack on the chain.
Mixing the oil depends on if they installed oil injector block offs or not. If they are blocked off then I use 50:1 but some use 60:1.
Check the spark plug often as they do foul out if the air fuel mixture is off.

I think with the chain you want a 1/2 inch of slack with the rider sitting on the bike. Thats what I do on the shee and on my streetbike.
Other than that looks like dennis hit everything. Look up how to remove your TORS too.

Oh one more thing I forgot to write, my back wheel wobbles left and right its looks like it is the joint that connects from the wheel to the part where the chain is, any suggestions.
Thanks

It could be the rim or the spindle. That I would have to see. The dealer should be able to tell you either way.

Do I have to take the bike apart and remove the shocks in order to grease up the ball joints? if not please give me a walk thru thanks
