I just recently purchased my first ever ATV. Honda fourtrax rancher 425 ES 4x4 for 4895.. Im wondering what i should look out for wiht this Atv or any tips on care for it. I put on 85 rouble free miles yesterday and it was by far more funner then snowmobiling.

Also, what type of mods do u guys have to it?

What type of winch would you guys think is the best for it and how hard are they to install?

For the winch I used an Xtream winch off ebay and could not be more satisfied. There really is not a lot of after market parts yet. Give it about a year or so and there will be a good bit.

You will be very happy with the Rancher. They are rock solid and dependable. Just do the maintenance as the manual suggests. I like to use OEM oils and filters. The ES transmission runs in oil I would suggest using the oil Honda recommends. I have a Warn winch but I'm sure others just as good. My Warn directions said installation could be done in 30 minutes. It took me three hours. The actual installation isn't difficult at all. It's the routing of the wiring so it doesn't rub or pinch. There is no space wasted under the plastic of an ATV.

The wiring took about an hour to do right.

For me several. Winches are well worth the trouble. I just replaced my steel cable with Amsteel Blue synthetic winch rope. I won't do steel cable ever again.

None but I was about to start drinking. They really don't leave you any room. I used to wire semi's and this was a chore to route but not hard to wire in it's self.
