Default HONDA LIGHT MODS

I have a 05 Honda Rubicon and I was wondering if anyone knows how I can switch off the handlebar headlight and only run the bottom 2 headlights. I remember reading somewhere that it is possible to do that with some type of add on switch, but I am not sure how or what to do. I want to be able to run just the bottom lights on high or low beam and switch on all 3 lights and do the same. I hate the glare that i get when i carry something on my front racks and run my lights. Hopefully someone did what i wanted to do and can help me. ANY help would be helpfull. THANKS

I also have a 2005 Rubicon and done exactly what you are talking about for the same reason. I just went to NAPA and bought a marine grade toggle switch with a rubber boot on it. Then took apart the instrument pod found the wires to the top headlight. Cut one wire and hook it to the new switch, drill a hole in the pod and mount the switch, nothing to it. Hope this helps and good luck.

Glad I could help. It makes it a lot nicer when I am deer hunting and coming in after dark with my crossbow in the rack.

Yeah, I guess Honda makes a switch kit for like $30 or something... Insane when a good sealed switch is only a few bucks at any good auto parts place.

I've got a switch lying around to do the same thing to my Foreman, but haven't gotten around to putting it in.

With Honda's emphasis on engineering, it seems strange that they didn't include that switch from the factory.

At some point here, I plan to do the Foreman 3rd headlight conversion to my Rincon, too, and may wire it so it can be on seperately.
