How should I clean my K&N filter

Default How should I clean my K&N filter

Hey guys, what are you doing to clean your K&N filters. I have mine pulled and while it doesn't look dirt and has to have a ton of dust in it from today. Let me know what your cleaning process is.

I use gas,then water..let dry..then coat it with filter oil,work in the filter oil(not so its soaked)then reinstall

Default How should I clean my K&N filter

How about a degreaser cleaner like Krud Kutter. I plan on spraying it with new filter oil so I assume it should be okay.

that stuff should work just as good as gas,but soak it in water after and let dry before putting on the filter oil

Default How should I clean my K&N filter

Certain solvents will damage the cotton gauze of the filter. K&N makes a filter cleaning kit specifically because of this...

listen to Wolvydude,he knows his stuff..I'm just cheap[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] plus I dont use K&N

not really..you need a solvent of some kind to break down the old filter oil..

Id suggest buying the K&N recharge kit it comes with the cleaner and the oil to service the filter. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

Just cleaned it with a light degreaser and water. Worked great. I couldn't believe the dirt that came out. I'm letting it dry and then I am going to oil it up and I'm good to go!
