Alright so im pretty far behind the atv news for the last 6+ months (didnt even realize the new kfx was released...and I thought it was going to be the same as the ltr so that was a surprise) I didnt know about the ds450 till about a month ago. I also just found out that the ds650 is being discontinued? what the HECK is that about? are they not selling enough units? hopefully this means they are coming about with something better?

Just seems sad..I really love the DS....so i wonder if resale value will go up or down now that they wont be making them anymore...prolly down [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]


I think I will hold onto my 730 till she blows and then just drop a street bike engine in her.

i think the 450 is taking its place btw the 650 looks are horrible its nice to have something refreshing.

 

"Horrible"? It's probably the most unique looking quad on the market. There is no doubt when you see it off in the distance at the dunes what it is. Even in the dark there is no mistaking the one of a kind shape of the headlight. The DS doesn't blend in with the impossible to tell apart from more than five feet Raptor/YZF/KFX/Suzuki clones out there. I hope if the Mighty DS is fazed out that everybody holds your opinion. Would make it easier for me to ****** up a herd of these classic bikes at an affordable cost.
The 4fiddy won't be taking the 650's place. They will be the true entry level Can Am for the younger crowd. It'll get them prepped for the day they sprout some nads and attempt to tame the DS800EFI...

 

the 650 looks a whole lot better than the new 450 the new 450 looks like a shaved bird strung out on crack with that front end it is the worst lookin sport fourwheeler on the market now i would rather have any other of the 450's as far as looks from what they say its gonna run good it better to be that d@/\/\n ugly and takein the ds 650 of that market wass bogus as far as the big bore bike the 60 and 700 raptor and the kfx 700 the ds owned them the 660's could never touch them the 700's ain't much better and the 700 kfx is automatic so it takes like 0% of racein knowledge to drag one and u juss gotta know how to jump a lil and hang a curve to race it on a gncc track it should of been a 4x4 utility and kaw could of made a real sport fourwheeler outta the same engine

 

kickass210 I disagree. I think the DS450 is actually ugly. I think the fenders over the wheel on the DS are incredibly functional. I was hoping the 450 had them as well. When your riding in the dirt and it's wet those fenders come in pretty damn handy. I agree with Ace... all these quads adopted that Raptor esqe look. DS truly stands out in the crowd. I have yet to ride a sports quad that is as comfortable as a DS. If Bombardier does release a 800EFI SPORT quad then I can see retiring my DS. It also nice to be different and race against other quads thinking it's heft made it a slug when in fact I would either give a good run or spanked them in a race.

 

" The 4fiddy"- funny. A ds 800efi I hope would be the next step in the evolution of the DS. Someone posted a rotax 800 twin ( side by side)engine not long ago that is suppoose to be smaller ( more compact) than the 650 engine?

 

I love the looks of the ds........when it comes around the corner you see these HUGE long travel shocks and some major lighting abilities with those headlights.....you no it means business. I hate the new 450 it is just ugly plain ugly untill you mod the fenders and headlights etc etc. I will be keeping my ds forever just hope the parts keep up on it...but if not i will just drop a street bike motor in her lol.

 

I love the tractor like look of the DS fenders, the giant wrap around seat & the way you can gun it & watch the front shocks top out. I remember when I bought mine in 01. Wherever I rode I had the Ferrari of quads. People just had to stop in talk. Not only is it Honda reliable, its not a "me too" quad. Just this year a friend who has a 450R & I went riding. Two young kids rode up & asked about my 6 year old DS!!! It's still the king in my eyes.

That has to be one of the best ATV engines ever. I wish they would add reverse & put that 650 in a Predator sized frame. I'd probably buy a new one. The reason I never got a new one is the lack of changes. Other than 04 I never saw much happening. But then again its like Porsche & the 911. So I am guessing they are supposed to release something then?...I would agree that it is sad the see the ds go, but who knows maybe in another 10 years they will come out with a new ds kinda like they did with the 450 haha...The ds is like nothing else on the market and is problably one of my favorite quads besides my 450R...It is soo comfortable and that is what I look for in quads and wouldn't buy one unless it was reliable and confortable like the ds, hence the reason I got the 450r...It will be missed, but hopefully people keep the name alive like the banshee, 250r, and the lt's and hopefully the aftermarket and parts will be available still or else that would stink.
