Found a new use for my 2004 SP700: Launching jet skis!
#1
Last weekend I finally put a tow ball on my SP700. It happened that the jetski was on its trailer, and the ramp was about a mile away. Thus we had the first test of the SP700 as a tow and launch vehicle.
It was awesome. Obviously the visibility was far better than any car or truck. Backing down the ramp was easy, particularly since the ATV has such a tight turning radius. I was in the water up to about the rear axle when the trailer was at the proper height for launching. Away went the jet ski, and away went the ATV. In and out in under 60 seconds.
Pulling the jet ski from the water two days later was easy, too. I backed the trailer approximately the same distance as before, the jet ski motored right up onto the bunks, we secured it, and rode 2-up on the way back. Absolutely no problem pulling the trailer with jetski and two passengers up the ramp in 2WD.
No more enclosed vehicle launches for me! An ATV is the ONLY way to go!

Low when I'm pulling out of the water, otherwise high. It's mostly level ground the whole way, so no real strain on the system. But definitely low when pulling up the ramp, for exactly the reason you've stated.

They are great tow vehicles. I use mine for pulling firewood out of the backcountry of Vermont and New Hampshire. I once used it to tow a industrial woodchipper up a hill that was too slick for our pickup trucks. Short distance but pulled it up without a problem. It weighed about 2500 lbs.
