Just thought I'd sign in and say hello. Been lurking for awhile...
Although my wife and I are new to ATVs, we are both 'motorcycle enthusiests' - to use the PC term. I've ridden bikes (on and off road) for about 25 years. She's got about a dozen years of riding experience.
I sold my 2002 KTM 640 Adventure to buy my 2007 Honda Rancher ES. My wife sold her Honda CB750 and TTR225 to buy her 2006 Polaris Hawkeye.
We live in Las Vegas, NV.
I've read/heard a few bad things about the Hawkeye. 1. The Recall. 2. Weak rear end.
Luckily, hers must have been made on a payday Friday as it's run excellent for the 20 or so hours that are on it. I find it's squirrly in the sand/washes, but otherwise a pretty decent ride. When our bikes got too loose, we would drop the compression and the tire pressure. We have her shocks set at the softest setting, but the thing still rides like a tank. I guess that's the one thing I dislike about it.
It just feels like it's way oversprung.
Only one mod so far. Nice loud air horn to scare the pants off people <grin>. Other than that, got some bush guards and had the dealer throw in a rear trunk when we bought it. Tried flipping her rear tires around, but she didn't like it, so they are back to normal.
All in all, seems like we made a good choice. Liking the extra 2 wheels for now.

Veloc,
Where did you get your airhorn? How
did you rig it up? Is just a disposable
air can or something different? I would
like one too, maybe for the same
reasons (a little menace, I can be), LOL
Cheers,

'tis a true air horn:
Stebel air horn
(Guess I can't post pictures yet)
Pretty easy to rig up. All you need is a pushbutton (momentary) switch, a relay and an in-line fuse.
I mounted hers to bit of frame. Luckily, it already had a hole about where I wanted to mount it. A little finageling (spelling?) and it's all set to scare the hair off a yeti <BFG>.
Horn & relay linky
Pretty decent write-up. Ya don't REALLY need a relay on a simple setup like I did, but I have a tendency to go a bit overboard when it come to wiring and such. Don't want anything failing out in the middle of nowhere.

Thank you. Glad to be here. Even though we are new, I hope we can add something.
I assume you are speaking about the Hawkeye carb. So far no running issues, but I hadn't heard anything about that. Can you direct me or link me to the information please?

Sorry Velocibiker, I didn't say "Welcome" first, where my manners?. You will find
us very friendly, warm, thoughtful and informative. Even people like Stendori
who gives great advice with no "cover charge", LOL.
Thanks for all the good horn info. man what a nice little do-dad piece
of machinery. Do you know of anything a little more light weight, ready
to be installed without making one essentially? My only real application
here is when I ride over at my in-laws 11 acres, mostly open field
and my kids dart around there, always careful but that horn
sure would be nice, ehehe
