Default trx 400ex won't start after bore out &new t.chain...

My trx 400ex started great but had no power and smoked out the exhaust so...I bored it out 40 over and put in 10-1 piston and rings, and replaced timing chain...now it does not want to start... so then i checked my timing again, cleaned carb, cleaned jets, pilot and main, checked needle, pulled all the wiring components off another that ran and still would not start...HELP

Any body have any idea...maybe something small that I may not have noticed...I seemed to have checked all the obvious....

before moding your rings may have been bad but when you bore anything you hone the wall and put new rings so the ring arent the problem now. i would check the spark if theirs none get a new cdi.

I have good spark and i pulled all the wires off a perfectly good bike to see if it was electrical...it still would not start. It will turn over and then flutter or lunge and like it wants to start and then it will just turn over and over and over... thanks for the help , though if you can think of anything else... we're stumped...

Oh yeah we did change the cdi...we are going to try pulling and jumpstarting to see if it will start...someone else mention that these bikes are a hard start with a fully charged battery and we are willing to try anthing.

If timing is correct then the rings might not be sealing and compression will be down. Try a compression test to make sure. When I rebuilt my 250x it had barely any compression at first.. I could not get it to fire by kicking, I finally jumped it and it fired up. After that it was fine. I assume your getting fuel and spark.

check your valve clearance, i dont know if it will do like my old bike did but the valves get too tight and you wont be able to start the bike, (exhaust or intake will be open all the time causing no compression.)
