I believe it is on the front of the frame by the bumper, if not there try looking by the footpegs on both sides...I dont own an EX but nobody else replied so try this..

Right up front, there is a flat crossbar frame brace..it's right there.

Thanks I found it after I scraped the fresh powdercoating off the cross memeber. I was suprised at how fine the stamping of the vin on the 2004 400ex is compared to my 2003 300ex.
