need help finding out cost of becoming race-able
#1
Hey everyone, im getting sick of my quad- it hurts me when i ride it (literally, its a rough ride) and its got no *****
I want to upgrade to a 400 or 450 quad, or a 250mx dirtbike- but i need to find out if it would be cheaper to upgrade, or to mod my ds250 to make it perform good enough to be worth keeping
Please help me come up with a list of mods with their prices- not specific brand names, but just the type of mod, and the price, thank you a lot!! (prices are Canadian, if you're American- add 20% to the price as a rule of thumb
exclude tires- graphics, and other things that dont either widen, improve suspension, or add power- no lowering kits either (things like lighter bolts and nuts are useless too IMHO, unless you're a hardcore racer, skid plates i dont need either)
Here's what i have so far:
+4 axle- $450
handlebar+pad- $70
Air Filter- $50
Jet kit- $50
wider aarms- $700
back shock- $600
Front shocks- $1200
Full system pipe- $500
Sprockets- $50
Chain- $150
How much is a cam?
How much is a high compression piston?
How much is a port and polish on average?
What else is there that you could add on a quad?
How much is a bigger/higher performance carb?
How much is a clutch kit?
im guessing it would cost almost $5000 to make a 250 automatic into a decent performer- but i need numbers as close as possible

i know that, but i still want to know how much it would cost to completely mod it out, i know it would even come close to even 400- just maybe, maybe, a stock 350 that had a relaxed break-in
ps: durablue +4 eliminator is 425 +tax which adds up to around 450
thanks man
Its almost the exact same price to completely mod out, as it is to purchase a used 05 250 dirtbike- but the latter will have you end up with 2 machines, with one for younger siblings
this was helpful
