buying quad for Kid Brother!!
#1
I have a question for ATV connection and its civilians.I'm trying to get my kid bro into atvs and riding and less video games.Hes almost 20 ,5'11 is 170 lbs and has never ridden anything in his life. I have narrowed it down to 3 or 4 choices, the polaris scramblers 400 or 500 auto,#2 kawasaki lakota or mohavie #3 your choice.Hes doesnt know how to shift but since hes a big kid I dont want to get him something to small but nothing that he"ll get hurt on.I know I'll get some smart asses that will say buy him a banshee 500 or get him that 90 but I really would love to get a seroius answer on this.Hes indecisive cause he doesnt know if he'll like it since hes never ridden. 1 more question I have a kdx and I need to get a trailer I plan to go out of state and i recently heard about laws in every state concerning trailers on roadways. What are these laws and what are they about.I plan to ride pennsy, vermont upstate ny etc with him.I think atvs are good bonding tools and I feel the mfgs should market family values more.Any way feel free to comment and I appreciate the advice, yall have a great day and happy roosting!!!

Question 1: Sence hes 20 years of age and you want somthing that is automatic, I would go with the yamaha Kodiak. I've heard that there grait atv's, you can switch a puch botten 4x2 to a 4x4, good suspendtion, good handling, and the list keeps going. This is honest opinion about your question.
Now about your other question, I don't know. SORRY
Hey, I hope i gave you somthing to really think about. See Ya Later

Hi,
I have a 2001 Kodiak 4x4. It is lots of fun to drive, it has a great ride and is a capable, all-around great quad. In two wheel drive, it is really sporty and the steering is really light and sharp. You will have a lot of fun with the Kodiak, but all of the machines you narrowed it down to will be great.

I would recommend the Scramblers, in 4wd. My reasoning is thus:
He is big enough to handlle it, and as his skills improve he will have enough bike to keep it interesting.
They are very easy to ride, with auto and one brake, almost like driving a car.
4wd is almost a necessity out in gnarly trails, although I realize some people have no use for them and you may not.

Even though I am a staunch Honda person, I would say go with the Polaris ATV. Go to your nearest dealer and let him ride one or two, get the feel of them. And do go with a quad he can grow on. Don't start small, that is a big mistake lots of people make and regret later. You don't really need a 4X4, especially since the cost is so great.
They have a 325 that is great on the trails and goes thru almost anything.
Remember, always wear a bean protector and have fun.

Regardless of which quad he chooses, make SURE to have your inexperienced brother take the riders safety course. Its very educational, especially for the non-experienced rider and it only takes 4 hrs to complete, its also very fun.The best part is that the course is FREE to anyone who purchases a new ATV.Ask your dealer for the # number to the ASI,and good luck,
