actually they say that they fixed the problem, but the tranny is still not strong enough. my second gear went out on my 03 rappy, along with losing second gear it bent a bunch of stuff in the tranny. the raptors also have a problem with the starter drive. mine took a crap on me the same time my tranny took a ****. cost me near $900 to fix.

Yes, they made significant mods to the gears, the dogs, bearings and other components. It may still be a little weak in some areas, but the '02 thru 05's are significantly better than the '01. There are '01 owners that have never had any trouble yet. There are MANY '02 - '05 owners that never will have any trouble.

RE the starter one way clutch/gear, that is still a problem. Many owners have had to replace them. BUT, $900 is a travesty to pay for that (or, i assume it was for the one-way AND the tranny?). The parts are $250 or less, and it's a 1-2 hour job if you are the least bit mechanically inclined. Always replace the stock unit with a redesigned clutch and gear from L&A or L&L and you will likely never have to replace it again.

Good luck!
