Took engine off to get rebuilt and didn't mark the which line takes oil to the oil cooler and which one takes it back to the engine....Help!

One line has a metal fitting about halfway between the engine and oil cooler. Does it take oil to the cooler or back to the engine[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

Look here. on page 12. That should let you know which is which.

The pics in the manual don't show which hose is input and which one is output.
My guess is the line going into the cooler at the thermistor is the input from the engine to the cooler. Two reasons for thinking so:
1. the oil temp would be measures as it come from the engine and
2. it would allow the oil to flow from the top of the cooler to the bottom the way a radiator works.
OR
I way be thinking backward...
OR
It may not matter at all. I've called two dealerships and they can't tell me.

If anybody has a 99 thru 01 and would take a look and let me know, I would be grateful.
