new guy, old question?

I have a 2004 magnum 330 2x4. its all stock. the problem is that in high gear, you can give it full throttle, and it acts as if the belt is slipping. but the belt is goo. i noticed that the back clutch (2ndary?) seems to be opening to much, not putting any tension on the belt. I took it off, there is one spring, seems to be in order. not sure if maybe it is worn out...?
i also noticed that there are different holes for the spring, on one side, there are a 1 & 2, the other side there are 1, 2 & 3. What does all of this mean?
Thanks for the help !

the holes are for setting shift out (less/more pressure)rates. how are the buttons, are they damaged or worn out? was the spring in the holes and was it preloaded? there has to be preload on the spring for it to work correctly. when the prim. closes, the 2nd should be opening. the belt should also be setting a little above the 2nd clutch when its at rest. hope this helps a little.

Not sure what you mean by buttons. The spring was where the factory put it. Nothing seemed to have been out of place when I disasembled it. If the spring is becoming worn, and allowing the second to open to much, will setting the spring in a different hole temporarily fix the problem?
Thanks

buttons(also know as shoes) is what the helix ramps slides on. they look like little plasic shoes. sometimes they wear right down and dont operate right. the differnt holes are for more or less preload on the spring. i would doubt since the wheeler isnt that old that the spring is that worn. make you clean the bushing real good when you put it back together as well.if you tighten the spring to one more hole then it will make the clutch shift out a little longer(meaning holds the rpms up longer and takes the belt longer to drop down in the secondary). just make sure to pre load the spring when putting back together.

My money's on the buttons. I've got the same problem with mine and the symptoms match perfectly.
I do have an additional question though. How loose is the fit between the pulley halfs? Meaning, mine seem to fit pretty loosely and I'm not sure wheter to replace the bushings or not. I'm going to post this same question in my thread.

Mine didn't have any play that I remember. I got three new buttons, the old ones were so worn you couldn't tell what they used to look like.
Thank you guys for all the help. My problem is now fixed, and the 4wheeler runs like new again.
