Default Mowers (Pull-behind) attachments

All -

I poked around looking at these ATV mowers
from various distributers of FARM/GARDEN and Hunting
equipment. All the prices I am seeing for these pull-behind
mowers are very pricy like over a grand.

Does anyone know of vendors and companies that sell
these type of equipment for considerable less? Like at
least 3/4 or 1/2 the cost. Even used but guarenteed?

My application is my in-laws 11 acre property that I occassionally
ride on.

Regards,

R'

Ask yourself some questions before you buy one of these things.

Why do you want one?

They are hideously expensive.

You will tear the crap out of any lawn you cut.

You will not get a great cut out of any of them.

You're going to use a lot of fuel and run your ATV very hot since you're going to be pulling the mower very slow.

They're hard to maneuver.

For the price of a pull behind mower you can get a riding mower that will do the job faster and better.

However. There are a couple of models that are useful. The rough cut and trail cutter models are useful for cutting very heavy grass and brush in areas where you can't take a standard tractor and brush hog.

I would never run a mower from a atv a few years ago my brother-in-law bought a new polaris with a mower from them after a short time of light use the motor stoped working, polaris would not cover the warrenty becouse they said the atv was not built for mowing the slow speed kept the motor too hot (this was sold togeather as a unit) after just over 3k for a new motor i guess you learn

i personally found it just as cheap to buy a riding tractor to do the mowing. i also figured that i would be running just one gas moter that way.

Yea my application is not cutting the lawn but rather long/brush type field grass. Rough cuts will do. It gets knee high when the farmer who leases my in-laws 11 acres does not plant Alfalfa. And all the tall brush is just a tic haven and
his riding mower has been broke for two seasons. Again, I was wondering
if such better prices existed out there, I wouldn't mind cutting his field with
my Quad as I go there anyways and when we do we bring our quads.

But there is alot of negatives obviously, okay thanks everybody for all
the good input, if you have more I am alllllll EEAARRSS!

i wish i could remeber the brand of brush mower i delivered to this guy w/ a kingquad to do just that type of work and it was a pretty good piece of equipement about 4 to 5 ft wide. i think it was around 1,000 to $1200.00
