Default 2005 Scrambler Speed

OK heres the deal, i have been in a wheelchair for about 10 years now, paralized from the chest down, i just bought a 05 Scrambler, gotta thank polaris for making a quad that us paraplegics can ride, due to not being able to use my legs to shift and brake and such. my friends all have 5 and 6 speed machines such as a banshee and a 400ex and something else, should i even attempt to try to keep up with them or will i look silly trying to drag em? Still gettin used to it so im still a bit timid with it. Feels good to have my face in the wind again though. Thank you for giving my freedom back Polaris!!!!

All that matters is that you have fun. One concern is that sometimes, standing up is necessary in order to use your legs and knees as secondary suspension to keep from getting bucked off. Good luck

hahaha yeah i have noticed that about the standing up thing, when we trail ride they dont push me to do things that might be dangerous, i have a great group of understanding friends. I did run the banshee on monday afternoon and were wheel to wheel to about 60mph then i got scared and slowed down, my friend was very imporessed with the torque and speed of my scrammy, woohoo, havent had this kind of fun in years.

good luck, have fun, and as long as you having fun thats all that matters. Was it a quading accident that injured you?? if it was, that takes some serious guts to get back on one. good luck man,

Jim

As long as your friends are understanding that's great, they know your limitations. There ae some macines out there that ride so nice you may never have to stand up, Polaris's are about as smooth as they come.

hahaha funny story it was actually a motorcycle that paralized me, someone turned left infront of me on my bike and ran me into the ditch and left me lay there and took off, never found the guy, oh well i believe in KARMA!! hahaha but i did loose my left leg at the hip a few years ago on a quad, so yeah gettin back on one was kind of spooky but i think i will be fine. thanks for your prompt responses guys, this is a great forum!

I have never really ran with anyone in wide open terrain. Usually tough, nasty, and very dangerous trails. I can hang with anyone we ride with. Knowing the roads helps. I have been destroyed by some big Dirt bikes on some better roads....... I am curious as how the scramblers do as well. I have been on a trail with a random guy riding a bright yellow 400EX. His bike was so loud I couldn't hear mine. I did not feel he was faster at all. Maybe on the top end? On the GPS the Scrambler holds the speed record on the mountain(home) at 46mph. And that was honestly scary fast for the conditions. I have also beaten a 450 Grizzly who topped out at 56mph so I know the Scramblers will go beyond 55. but I think the lighter sport quads will kill us in top speed.
