I bought my first quad about a week ago, a Yamaha Raptor 350. Seems like a great bike, and worked flawlessly until a day or two ago when my brother flooded the engine when trying to start it. Ever since, the machine will not run correctly. I'm very lucky to even get it to start now, when it used to fire on the first crank of the starter every time. Most of the time it may start up with the choke on, but it will spit and sputter while idling, then just die and won't start again.

Tonight I got it to run for a while, then all of a sudden while riding, it starting acting funny, then just died. It almost acted how it would if you were about to run out of gas. Problem is, I have a full tank.

Like I said, the machine is one week old, and it's just upsetting that I'm already having problems. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY SON'S. EXACT SAME MODEL & YEAR.TOOK IT IN .IT WAS A FOULED PLUG & THEY CLEANED THE CARB.HAS RUN PERFECT SINCE.ALTHOUGH HE DOES RUN IT WITHOUT THE SPARK ARRESTOR NOW.HE SAYS IT RUNS BETTER WITHOUT IT.WAS ALL UNDER WARRANTY ,SO OF COURSE IT WAS FREE.THEY ALSO TOLD HIM TO START IT ON FULL CHOKE & LEAVE IT ALONE FOR 30 SECONDS,THEN TURN THE CHOKE OFF & LET IT RUN FOR A FULL 2 MINUTES NOT TOUCHING THE THROTTLE AT ALL.AFTER THAT IT SHOULD BE FINE.WE STILL BLIP THE THROTTLE WHEN IT IS HAS THE CHOKE ON.NO PROBLEMS EVER SINCE THEN.GOOD LUCK & KEEP US POSTED ON THE FIX.

 

I have a 2005 and have beat the holy h-e-l-l out of it only issue's was a dirty carb and pulser trigger went bad which isnt bad at all considering all the seat time ive put on it.If i was you i would buy a inline fuel filter and put on it just to be safe as for your problem it sounds like a dirty carb!!! try removing the plug spary a little starter fluid-wd-40 or pour a little gas in the plug hole screw your plug in and try to see if it will crank if so then it is deff fuel issues.. keep us informed!!

I would say clean the carb out run some carb cleaner through it and get a new spark plug to be safe and see if that works. Unless if its under warranty then take it to the dealer.
