700 Grizzly stalls @ stops
#1
First off I'd like to say hello to everyone at ATVC. This is my first post here. I just purchased my 07 Yamaha Grizzly 700 not long ago and have been trying to find a good message board for it.
The problem that I am running into is that after I ride it for any bit of time, when I come to a full stop the bike stalls. The bike is brand new (has ~40 miles on it). I had heard about a vapor lock so I tried to open the gas cap, however that didn't seem to help it much.
I haven't adjusted anything from the factory accept the shocks slightly (they were tuned all the way down, and the bike was a bit soft for my taste).
Has anyone experienced this with their Grizzly?
Regards in advance.

Any new big bore single cylinder engine can do this in the break in period. Ride it a hundred miles this Saturday, and if it doesn't start behaving normally take it back to your dealer.

Mine, too, stalled on occasion, but after 900 miles, it rarely does. Keeps getting better.
Most people have had more problems with the heated gas tank not releasing pressure on the gas freely enough. You can read about this using "search" in most ATV web sites under "boiling gas".
WARNING NOW--do NOT open your gas cap when your engine is hot until you read about the gas gushing out so you know what to expect.

It will go away. It's starving for air. Do the air filter screen mod where you open the holes bigger and turn up the POD. I havent had a stall since I did this plus it now wheelies with ease! You need to go to a few of the Grizzly sites and get up to date on all the in's and out's of this quad. Also add the power tip to the exhaust and it sounds so much better. Here's a few links so get busy reading. Do a search on these sites for POD MODS and airfilter screen, power tip. You find everything you need to know. Enjoy your Beast!

Thanks for all the advice. I read a bunch of posts on "boiling gas" causing it, however it seemed like people had a bunch of different ideas to fix it . Was hoping for a definitive fix. I looked up the POD MODS and it seems like something that might be worth doing. I am a lot less worried, a lot of people said after break in it went away. Since my machine only has ~40 miles on it, I'm not too worried.

My griz did it a couple of times before i had 300 miles on it. Now that I have 600 miles on the machine and it hasn't done it since about 300. I never modified anything. I got the oil changed around 300 miles and since then I haven't had any problems. Not sure if that had helped or if it was broke-in.
