2008 Sporty 800 more power and torque?
#1
I was just on the Polaris website and they are claiming the 08 800 Sporty has a 9% increase in power and a 12% increase in torque. What did they change on the machine to get such a substantial increase. I had heard they were the same engine. It comes up when you click on the dual exhaust. I want to go to an Aaen aftermarket pipe when the warranty on my Stealth runs out and that is about the hp and torque gains they are claiming going from the 2007 duals to their pipe.

According the 08 parts diagram, the 08 SP800 has over the older 800's is this to gain the power and torque. A new cam, header pipe, mid pipe and the 1st muffler (the 2nd muffler is the same as the rest) Also looke like intake valves are different, but not exhaust valves. The ECM was the same. It also looks like any 800 built after 8/21 will have a new fuel tank. Don't know why, but that is also in parts diagram. But with cam in exhaust, with bigger valves should give the 10% power and 12% torque.

That's great that they bumped the output of the motor and got 9% more HP and 12% more torque, but exactly how much HP and torque is that now? 50hp? 60lb-ft? The Outlander 800 makes 62hp and 53lb-ft of torque. Does someone on here have those #s for the new Polaris 800 EFI H.O.? I'd love to see them.

I'd like to see those numbers too. The Bomb certainly has the top end over my 800 by a long shot. Heck, the 650 can run down a Popo 800. They seem to have the market cornered on HP to the ground. With the way my stealth is set up, I would guess she does in the early 50's. Everything I read regarding the 07 is that it will run 54 mph stock. Interesting to see what the 08 will do on the gun.
