A friend came over today riding something. He said he was told that it was a 1993. It had Polaris 350 on the side, Hi / Lo / Rev, Spedo. It was a utility type quad with racks. Chain drive to front and back. Oil injection. The quad was not in great shape and his friend was wanting three grand for it. After laughing at that figure he asked me what I thought it was worth. I have no idea what I saw let alone what a fair price would be. Anyone have any idea what this was and maybe a value?

Thanks
KD

This summer I purchased one of these from a local dealer, a 1993 350L 4x4, all decked out 1,800 miles, handwarmers, winch, couple very small scratchs on the plastic but over all very very very great condition. I diddnt really want a wheeler like that but figured for $1,800 + $200 tax it was a great deal... after all it was owned by a 70 yr old man who only rode it during hunting season.. First two days it ran mint, would smoke my buddies lakota and trailblazer without a problem, went great in the mud, really hauled for such a big machine, then the problems started.. 3rd day I had it way out in the middle of nowhere with a buddie on the back I decided to take a break for a couple minutes, shut the machine off, couldnt get it started, a gear busted off in the starter and stuck in the motor it wouldnt even turn over so I thought it was siezed.. brought it back to the dealer, luckly I had a 30 day warantee on parts/labor, got it back, ran for 2-3 more days without any problems then all of a sudden it just died, couldnt for the life of me get it started so back to the shop it went, turned out the oil-inj failed and toasted the rings, so new topend and Im back in buisness a week later, wasnt a half an hour before it was broke down again, antifreeze squirting out of the head/head intake, at that point I was 20 or so days into my 30 day warantee period, so for a final time I brought it to the dealer got it fixed and got rid of the hunk of junk... It was a great machine when it ran but thats just the thing "when it ran"

Well said,

Having lived through 2 '95 400s and a '99 400 I would recommend staying away from anything pre-96 and if finances allows, purchase a '99 or new in the 400 models if you really want a two stroke.

When they are good they are very very very good and a blast to drive, but... if you buy one, you will become an expert in carburetion and replacing brake pads (unless you live on the prairie).

I think they are high on price. I wouldn't give a penny over $2000 for one, even in very good shape. Just too many problems in the pre '96 models. Usually the engine holds up pretty well, but all the annoying, nickel and dime parts they take (along with dollars and dollars of labor charges) add up to where it doesn't justify paying that much for one.

I have a 94 one of those... Contrary to everybody else I have had no problems at all with it. I have driven it for almost a year (about 600 -700 miles) and the only thing I have had go wrong was the spedometer cable. I have wrode it VERY hard through some messy mud and water and snow... I have not gotten stuck. ever.
I deffinately got my $2100.00 out of it...

Great Machine...

I have 2 friends with three 1993 polaris 350 4x4's. The only trouble with them is one needed a new starter last summer, it has around 8000 miles on it. One of the others had the engine rebuilt, it still ran good but at 19,000 miles he figured it wouldnt hurt to be done. He said it still had the origonal belt, he replaced it but it still looked good. Other than that they have had no major repairs, just chains, tires, and whatever else needed.

Kelly Blue book; http://www.kbb.com/index.html Says the value of one is $2485. I think that is considered in good shape.

I find the same with pre 96 models almost no problems reported, I get that funny look like I am an alien when I ask them how many troubles they have had. but 3000 for a 93 even if it was showroom would be asking to much in my opinion. for 1000 more you can get a 2001 Xplorer 250 4x4 or less than that for a Trail Boss or Blazer. how it works for you depends on how the other owner treated it don't always be fooled by old people owning it, most older people I know don't maintain a thing. It might look good but could be on last leg due to lack of any care.

Thank you to all who responded. I convinced him that he should keep looking and that this was probably not a good deal for him.

Again thank you.
