Default Good Battery...not charging

Went for a weekend ride on the Piute Trail in central Utah this weekend, and had some problems. I have a 2003 Sportsman 700. During the ride (before I broke the belt), I noticed that the Battery ICON was flasinng. I stopped, took the seat off, looked things over...checked all connections I could get at, removed the headlight shroud and checked the cinnections at the Speedometer..all seemed ok. I kept riding, still flashing..then finally after a couple hours..it wouldn't crank...out of juice. I got a jump from a friend and took it back to camp. I put a voltage meter on the battery terminals as it was running, and there was no charge coming from wherever(Alternator, generator???) to the battery. Any Ideas?? Thanks. Mike

Thank you for the info. I hate to admit this but....I looked everywhere on my Sportsman for the rectifier/module...except for where it's located...can you tell me where the heck it's located! Thanks again....Mike

If what he is talking about is the voltage regulator which I had to replace on my 04 700 last month, it is underneath the front rack. We had to pull the rack off the machine and then remove the front center access panel on the bike. Right dead center towards the very front of the machine it is mounted extremely inconveniently to an upper support piece of the frame. It is a pain to take out and a pain to remount due to it's limited accessability. Mine cost around $95 from the dealer. Immediately cured the problem I was having which was identical to what you have posted. Good luck.
