Sportsman 800 gas mileage
#1
46.2 miles and 2.98 gallons
15.5 mpg.
This was my very first fill up with the new 800. I rode very conservatively in this first 4 hours of use, top speeds only 35 mph, top RPM only 4,900, mostly trail riding and some putting around with my boy in a local sand pit. I'll post additional figures as the 800 gets more hours on it.

The thing I find about gas/mileage threads is that no one drives the same so of coarse the mpg's will very.
I wish an 800 Sportsman could have run with my neighbor and I for comparisons on the run we did last Wednesday. He has a new 800Can-Am and me with my Sportsman ran 204kms(127miles) running mostly 40-50mph on railbed and large logging roads. We both did this on a tank of gas neither running out. I have an 18lt tank his is 20lts and I must add that I didn't switch over to the reserve so that works out to close to 30miles/Imp gal. The 650 Kawi that was also there ran out at 160kms(100miles) but don't know the size of the tank on it.....

well in my opinion if any one says there getting 100 miles to tank on a 800 is being towed or hauled lol. it not even possiable to happen w/ a stock 4.13 gallon tank.

80 miles to me seems like a stretch also.but If u say u do that must be nice. I have had a sportsman 600 700 and now 800 and it must be the way i drive cause not one ever got over 65 miles on a tank. but like i said i have thumb in carb the whole time. do u guys with good mileage have stock jets or did u downsize? and whats your elevation just round about if u know? I'm at 825 feet above sea level

Yes I have rejetted my 500HO as it came stock with a 152.5 main jet I dropped to a 147.5 main and run from sea level to about 2000ft. The owners manual says the tank holds 18lt or 4.75gal which I assume is American/gal. The 800Can-am is fuel injected but I'm still amazed at the milage he got but like I said it was all steady crusing on good roads......
