what is everybody paying for their ranchers? the s model 4x4? Would this be a good machine for a 110# woman to handle? How is the steering compared to machines you can take out of 4x4?

My wife is moving up from her Recon to my Rancher this spring. She is 5'2" & weighs 115 pounds. When sitting still its a little hard for her to turn but when moving she has no problems with turning or any other controls.

The best price I have seen is $4099 out the door for a 2001 Rancher S 4x4. That is from lake hill motors in Corinth, MS. You can check them out at Yamahadiscountprices.com

That price is impossible for a NEW 2001 Rancher 4x4. It is many hundreds of dollars less than the price dealers pay Honda. It was probably a 4X2. The YamahaDiscountPrices.Com site is not up.

The price I quoted is correct. That is an out the door price and they do not collect sales tax on out-of-state buyers. I also would like to say that you are a little off in your thinking that that would be less than dealer cost. If you really want to know the invoice price go to ATVprice.com, but you will have to pay to get the info. If Honda can sell a Civic for $15000 with 4 seats, 4 cylinders, airbags, doors, and all of the other features in any basic car, then you know there has to be a good profit margin on a 1 cylinder steel frame with plastic trim covers and balloon tires for $5000. I am sure that the dealers make less on every unit sold than Honda Manufacturing does, but they aren't investing all the money in advertising, development, and warranty costs either. I also know that Ford, for example makes $10,000 profit on every Expedition sold. That is not including the approx. $4000 dealer profit if sold at MSRP. That means a $35000 Expedition actually only costs approx. $21000 to manufacture and warranty for 3 years. That is after the suppliers (vendors) that make seats, trim, airbags, tires, etc. make their profit on all the items they sell to Ford.
