Thinking of getting a 30 gal drum "Closed" for race fuel storage, any thing I should know about? I was also looking for a cast Iron pump also.

I have gotten pumps here before Northern Tool and I also got a 15 gallon Blitz tank that came with a hose and nozzle that uses gravity for filling. Its real handy. Might be an alternative to a 30 gallon drum.

Northern has some nice diamond plate fuel tanks with and with out tool boxes. Might be handy for you also. But there is nothing wrong with a drum. Thats what I use for diesel for the blade and back hoe.

 

If your going to transport it often I would say try and find a square style tank. Like a toolbox, L style, or just a square one. I have a 100 gallon alum tank I use for farm use. Much easier to sucure in the back of the truck than a drum. Drums are cheaper, but kind of ackward to keep tied down. And also cuts down on visibility if its taller than the bed of your truck. I have a 12V pump I just bought from northern tool. Works great, but be ready to spead 2-300 bucks on one. Or you can get a hand pump cheaper. I got a pretty good deal on my tank from a dee zee outlet that deals with blems. I got a 700 dollar tank for under half price that had a scratch that was barley visible. Also another good thing about tanks opposed to drums is that some tanks have baffles in them so they don't get sloshing around. But if your only talking 30 gal it should not be a problem anyways.
