Default 2007 outty 650 xt some ??

Hello all

this is my first post. I have a 07 650 outty, that is really fun to ride and is very powerful.
Well just last weekend i decided to go through a mud hole and to make things short I didnt get out of that hole on my own.
The quad hydrolocked, we changed the oil 7 or 8 times, changed the plugs, the air filter, cleaned everything and changed fuses, and then jumped the battery to get her running. We charged the battery and its starting and running on its own, but when we were changing the oil we used cheap 10w-30 and on the last change I put the recommended oil in it. I took it down the street and it was making strange noises coming from the motor.
I don't know what to do from here other then take it to the dealer

Any suggestions?

thats really odd. I have neaver heard anything like that on any of the forums. I didnt even think it was possible to hydrolock an EFI engine. did you have it upside down in the mud?

no i didnt have it upside down, but it may have been swamped......
never the less listen to this
...I bought the quad and really didn't think anything of the fact that it already had 18 hours on it.. it wasn't used..ok and they told us to to bring it back for the "10 hour service"...
Well stupid me brought it back, they charged me a crazy $280 which should of been free yadayada.. ok well then I swamped her ( see previous post) I had asked the dealer/ tech if they sounded different from an 800, mine had a wierd tap to it when we bought it, the dealer said "yeah their susposed to sound like that and they sound different.." ok so is that true does a 650 sound different?
Then I brought it back to get fixed and they said there gonna put a claim in about the crank bearings they gave me a quote for $3400 to get fixed, so i was thinking warranty should cover..wrong..
But then i waited 2 weeks for brp to call me back and they had told me that my dealer didn't even put the claim in.. WTF? how am i susposed to argue with BRP if they didn't even put the claim in?
so help me out guys I know its my fault to go through the same hole that a 300 ex and a 450 yfz got through ( some how thats my fault who would of known?) but selling me an 18 hour quad not putting a claim through telling me to get a 10 hour inspection? should i continue to argue with BRP and the Dealer?

Dealer sounds very shady. To get 18 hours, it was either a demo, the dealer was riding it on weekends, or it is used.

Asking you to pay for the 10 hour service is just plain fraud.

Stating that 650's sound different than 800's or 500's is a lie.

Get in writing if you can all that you can, especially about the tap when you bought it. Probably a hopeless deal to get that in writing, but it's worth a try.

I would give him one more chance to hang himself with BRP, then try to get a case number from BRP with the bike and dealer history. They may have on record a 10 hr svc, but I doubt it. Is your warranty for 30 or 36 months? Mine is for 36 months, hopefully yours is too, but only the first six months do they honor it halfway honestly, then there is a deductible after that, $50.

After you have all the paperwork, and all you might wind up with is your 10 hour service, which should say the hours. Also the dealer paperwork should result in a Title, no really a title but it's an official registration of the bike. Did you get that in the mail already? Here in CO, the buyer gets the first year Forest Service stickers in the mail. Also, it is BRP's policy for you to get a safety class and they give you a ck for $100 after you've taken the class. Maybe you can catch the guy through the regular routine, something he didn't do, especially if it's used and the other guy got that stuff. I believe the area representative will get into the act somewhere down the line. BRP does not want dealers like this guy, threaten him with going to the area rep, he might put your claim in. The goal of course is to get this guy to get your bike fixed 100%, then never go in there again. That's getting ahead of ourselves though.

I am confused on one point though, you said it had a tapping noise when you bought it, then after you swamped it, there was strange noises from the motor. Not the original tapping or that plus other noises.

I suggest you combine your first and second posts in chronological order, what happened when, into one post with any pictures you might have attached, even if all they show is the swamped bike. In order to get the best chance for help, it would be very helpful to you to put your combined posts over on the Aurora Wheelers Forum. Lots of experience there, plus one of the mods is a dealer who could help you. Sorry for the long post, but it pi$$es me off when a dealer takes advantage of a young guy, or anybody for that matter.

I'll talk to you again over there. Just keep on pluggin', this dealer is obviously shady.

Later

hey man thanks a lot for siding with me.
I'm sorry about the posts I was typing with complete anger. After the 10 hours I put on it I had asked the tech about the noise and he said that its normal for a 650 to sound that way. So I took his word and I did get her stuck and I do take the blame, but as I said the little quads in front of me had no problem, and I'm not a novice rider, I'm no expert either but still.

So my question is maybe it was a fraud quad to begin with? Maybe the quad wasnt sealed right from the start? These questions can't obviously be answered without seeing it. The dealer told me today that the reason they didn't put the claim in is because they talked to the tech and they new that it would bounce right back at them. So why did the guy give me BRP's number to give a "good will" call and try to get something out of it? Big waste of time if you ask me. So I told the guy to go ahead with the work anyway because I want the quad obviously but I'm going to call brp again get some names and numbers and bash this guy to no end.
Am I allowed to put my location and the dealer name on here? I don't want to get in trouble. I'll keep you posted and thanks again for your support.
Zack

You're welcome Zack.

You sure you want this proven weasel to work on your bike and take his word he will back up his work?

Can you get your bike back the way it is? Stiff him with the parts he has ordered, and have someone else more trustworthy do the work? He's got it comin'.

Don't mean to load you up, but this way he's getting rewarded for jiving you.......

My idea above is revenge oriented. Maybe the way you're going is best. I suggest you put your foot down, and make him give you all the old parts he's replacing. At least then he will actually have to do the work.

Yes, let us know how it's going and good luck. At least you know that's one heck of a bike you got!
