Default 07 Outlander Max 500 EFI Issue (Please Help!)

I bought a 07 Can-Am Outlander Max 500 in the begining of July. I am having problems with it quitting running after riding it anywhere from 45 min to 2 hrs. The signs are it will start losing rpms quickly while spitting and sputtering and then shutting down. After it shuts down however long you let it sit is about how long you can ride it again normally until it starts the problem over again. The machine only has approx. 18 hrs on it. Again, when you start out riding from the machine being completly cold you may get up to 2 hrs of riding before the problem starts to happen. It is currently at the dealership were I bought it from, but so far after 5 days of looking at it the have not figured out what the problem is. Like alot of dealerships if they can't duplicate the problem at their shop then they tell you it hard to fix what is wrong. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

Could the gas line from the tank to the engine be getting to hot and stopping the gas from flowing to the engine.

After installing fuel filters on each supply line, cleaning out my fuel tank (didn't need it) and cleaning my carb, I replaced my fuel pump and it has run since. (This is on a 400) If yours is located whre mine is heat is an issue. It obviously doesn't affect all CanAms, but mine is the second I have heard of having fuel pump issues.

Thanks John T. I will also pass this info on to the mechanics at the dealer. My Can-Am 500 is EFI but does have a lot of heat coming from the engine bay as i've read on this site happens with most Can-Ams.

Thanks again,
Max 500

I would ask them to make sure it has the latest ECM reprogram. Makes a lot of difference in how much fuel is getting to the injectors, since the ECM controls that. I know that should show up as soon as you start it and it warms up if it's in the ECM, but just make them do it anyway.

If they can't fix it, come back on and we can do some searches for you.
