My ds650 will only run on reserve when i switch to on it will run for a minute and die like its out of gas please help

 

Cody how are you? I think you bought some shrouds from me on ebay. Anyway, have you checked your Choke?

 

first thought would be you have a plugged line in the tank, but when you say it runs a minute that kind of changes it, should run a little long than a minute on reserve. but it sounds like it could be a vent problem take the gas cap off and see if it runs, if so the breather tube is plugged.

 

The regular line may be plugged or disconnected. When you say you switch it to on from reserve, there should be some fuel still up in the lines above the switch that came from the reserve line. This would keep the bike running for a minute or so and then the other line, being disconnected or plugged cannot draw fuel from the tank. Have a look at the line down into the tank.

 

Hi Cody another thought, if your bike was parked for over 2 months your float bowl needle valve might be stuck closed or debree in the line can also cause it to clog. You might have to take out the needle valve and clean with carb cleaner or buy new needle valve.

 

Sounds to me like your fuel petcock has some trash on it, or you are low on fuel.

 

Sounds to me like you are low on gas. Although it may look like there is gas in the tank, the pickup tube is not very long...check your petcock screen/pickup tube, put in some more GOGO juice. That will fix it . Good luck.

 

there are two tubes in the tank so the chance they both plugged doesn't seem likely, you could pull the fuel line off the carb and see if you are get good flow, if so look to the carb.
