THIS WEEKENED I AM GOING TO RACE MY FIRST BANSHEE, AND NEED SOME ADVICE. MY RAPTOR IS SLIGHTLY MODIFIED ( AIR INTAKE SILENCER REMOVED, SPARK ARRESTOR GONE, REJETTED.) MY BUDDIES BANSHEE IS STOCK EXCEPT WITH FMF FATTIE PIPES. IT'S ALSO A 2001 MODEL. SHOULD I PUT MY 12 TOOTH SPROCKET ON OR LEAVE THE 13? SHOULD I TAKE OFF IN 1ST. OR 2ND.?

start in 1st and stay with the 13 for a far race and go to 12 if your dragging a short distance.

If dragging in sand, definately go with the 12 tooth front sprocket. Practice getting a good start. It just makes racing tougher when having to catch someone and then pass them. Also, why not have a bud time you through a comparable area with different gearing, starting line techniques, short shifting, etc.., to see what gets you from point a to point b quicker beforehand.

Make sure you race on a hard packed surface.
Otherwise it is easy for the raptor to get a holeshot, know what I mean.

Beg for a head start. (LOL) Although the bashee will have to be in tune to beat you.
I advocate a larger front sproket for both bikes. People do not believe me. I run a 15 on my "well tuned" banshee (very important) and I smoke most. Have fun, wish I was there. Where are you going? I just may be there.

I should be pretty close. My raptor can take stock banshees, and very close with slightly modified ones. What makes a big differences are the riders. I'm new and a big guy, when my smaller friend rides my bike (he has years of exp.) He can take a lot more people. We should start a AZ Raptor club here. I don't know if anyone else is intrested, but me and my friend are going to try racing the Whiplash race. First on is in Parker, end of Jan.

See ya

What kind of 'slightly modified' do you mean?

i installed a BIGGER front sprocket on my Raptor and it smoked my friends stock toothed Raptor, It pulled exactly 2.3 mph faster on a radar gun, point is this, the Raptor has big time low end and it can stand to pull a larger front sprocket
