Default What to do

Here's the deal, I used to use this site back in college when I raced and I loved it. Glad I found it back. Anyway long story short I am getting back into ATVing after 4 yrs. I was transferred to northern MN and this is once again the thing to do. What I am wondering, I have had both sport quads and utility. Raptor, Grizzly, Prairie 650. Not sure what to buy, I sold both utility quads because I got board with them after my race raptor that put me in the hospital when I over shot a double. I would love any feedback on the Wolverine because I think this might meet me in the middle. I am worried about the power of a 450. Is it enough?? Please advise with expierence and mods that you have done. Thank you

Vin

IMO i would buy a full on ute.. then if you have the $ try to find just a cheap quad to go fast on. i know they get quite a bit of snow in your area and i think a ute would be a funner quad in the winter

Thats a tough one...seems like you still have a little racing left in your blood,The new Wolverines look pretty sprorty and have the 4 wheel drive to fall back on also. But they are automatic and you are never going to beat a sport quad,But I have seen plenty of modded out new Wolverins that look awesome and have more tha enough power for all kinds of riding..I think the Wolverine is the best all around quad out there, now if Yamaha would only put a bigger moter and a manual clutch/shifting in the Wolverine package..That would be awesome

With a few mods my Wolverine is faster than I can ride it in the woods and it handles great. The bike is a blast to ride just about anywhere.

Hey so how have you liked your Wolverine?? I see that you have piped and jetted and done a little suspension work. Plus the clutch. I did all this to my Prairie but I was still board, the power was good, just the quad was so lethargic I became board with it. Let me know what your mods did to its performance. I am going to be riding a stock one next Wed. at my old dealer that sponsored me when I raced. Thanx in advance for your input.

I love the Wolverine. It handles WAY better than any ute. I've ridden. Even stock it was as fast in a drag race as my buddy's Polaris Sportsman 600 and I could smoke him on the trails. With the pipe, air filter and jet kit he could barely keep up with me in a drag (till I topped out). Now with the clutch kit, Elka's and new tires I wait for him at the top of every hill and and at every trail intersection. I'm totally happy with the Wolverine for the kind of woods/trail riding we do here in New Mexico and southern Colorado. My wife and I are going to Moab this weekend and taking the quads, I can't wait.

I'm sure you know that it's still a 500lb bike and will never go like a sport bike. I'm just saying I think its a really fun bike and great for what it is.

You might also consider a 5 speed Suzuki Vinson.
I was really surprised how nimble it is for a 600 lb machine.
