I picked up a 250sx a few weeks ago and i been trying to get the electrical to work. i rarly have any lights and when i do they are very dime they dont always go out at the same time. soemtimes my headlight and tail light will work but my reverse and Nutreal light will not.. my starter wont work either. but when i boost off the starter it will. the bike seems to be firing find and i can s tart it with the kick start no problem. sometimes when i turn my key off the bike will not shut off either. i am stumpt. someone said it could be the rectifier but wouldnt that make the lights go out at the same time?

 

rectifier or stator most likely will be the cause of your lights being dim. but that won't cause your bike to stop running when killing the switch, thats either gonna be a short in the kill circuit wiring, or bad ignition or cdi. and yes if the rec. is bad it will cause all lights to dim\brighten together. as far as your dash lights I would suspect a shorted wire or bad connections. hope this helps.
